Hypothetically, there's W, S, Q, L, O, F, J, B and L.
W was in a relationship with S for some time. And then they broke up. Later W was with Q, and S had L. After a while, things didn't work out, and so it ended for both parties.
W stayed close with S. Later, W met O, and S met F. They dated a little, but they stop seeing each other after a while. So, W was still close to S.
W tried to make things work with S, but S was too hurt about the past, so it was said that things would take time. Then, S met J, B and L.
S is currently seeing J, and maybe possibly also B and L. W feels all alone, and regretful of his past doings. Trying hard to make it up to S, but W's such acts of trying to right a wrong isn't and haven't been working at all, all this while.
W feels that there is still a possibility of things working out with S, but is constantly heart broken with the fact that S isn't the same as before.
W seeks your advice on the current dilemma, on whether W should stick around and wait, or should W move on.

Personally I think W should move on. If W and S were ever meant to be together in the first place they would still be together no matter what. Matter of time - despite the events/people that took place in between the time W and S were together and will get together.
